This past year has led so many friends and family to relocate. Whether moving back in with family, moving places within a city, leaving to an entirely new city or country, we’ve noticed lots of house-hopping. As a result, plenty of opportunities to bless the new homes with cool and thoughtful housewarming gifts.
Below are the ones we’ve proudly invested in for ourselves and our favorite people.
CANDLES – Our typical go-to when we aren’t feeling incredibly inspired and creative. They are an always welcome gift. You can definitely have fun with selecting the candle & scent and make it feel personalized that way. Our favorites, below –
Byredo – Tree House and Bibliotheque are our go-tos – $85
Diptyque – We love the larger “giant” sized ones as more generous gifts – $345
D.S. & Durga – We discovered this brand on Violet Grey (our favorite beauty destination) and have since purchased ourselves and friends the Big Sur After Rain candle – 65
Heretic – Dirty Grass is one of our favorite scents – both body and candle – $70
Tom Ford – Because when you have a friend who is Fucking Fabulous, you get her the candle – $132
Games – Invite some fun and playfulness into the new home right away by bringing and gifting some cool and stylish decorative (and functional!) games. You can find some great customizable card decks, etc. on Etsy or once again go for some decorative and bright versions – Edie Parker’s are our favorites but don’t come cheap. These decorative Tic-Tac-Toe pieces retail for $1,495 but are equal parts function and art.
Personalized pieces – We started by buying ourselves an Edie Parker custom table-top lighter and vanity tray and that led to plenty of requests from our fashionable friends for the same. It’s an incredibly fancy and cool option. Table-top lighter – $495 and Vanity Tray – $295
Barware – A good bottle of wine or more personalized liquor of choice is a great gift. If you are feeling very generous and looking to purchase something extra special, we are loving Foundrae’s new “Vertu” collection of luxurious glass shakers, carafes, tumbler sets and symbolic bottle stoppers, which we are hoping someone will send our way on our next move… hint hint!
House Blessing candle + kits – Also our go-to for our favorite people. Who does not want a house blessing and cleansing kit to start fresh? We also like including some sage and/or palo santo when gifting table-top lighters (suggested above). These are super thoughtful and budget friendly. House of Intuition is where we go.
House Blessing Magic Candle – $18
House Blessing Crystal Set – $20
House Plants – Plants are good for you, for the home, for cleaning up the air and brightening moods. They are also low maintenance and meant to last… plant-giving can also be incredibly personalized from choosing an appropriate size for the home as well as type with great meaning. From a money tree (self-explanatory) to gifting a toxin clearing snake plant (known in some cultures to protect the home) we find this is always a solid choice. The Sill is our favorite for all plant gifts.
Coffee Table Books – A beautiful coffee table book in the recipient’s interest (photography, art, fashion, beauty) is a classic housewarming gift. We find Taschen’s selection very special and great for all budgets. You can find gorgeous and interesting options for as low as $20 but as pricey as $1,000.
